Entry 3: Evolution of CALL



In this entry, I would like to share a bit about CALL and Search Engine.

Do you remember when you're still a kid or still in primary school? Yes as a Malaysian I'm not very good in English during that time, but some application in computer really help me. At that age, I don't really know what application that is and I just thought that it is only a word game. 

but after I learn the previous chapter, now I know that this application is called as CALL. it really helps students to learn English in a better way. 

CALL?

CALL is Computer Assisted Language Learning and it is used for help students especially when the teacher is not around to help the students. 

The progression of CALL:
a)  Behavioristic CALL
b) Communicative CALL
c) Integrated CALL

a) behavioristic CALL is developed in 1960s  based on behaviourist learning theory.
eg: The Stanford project
Advantages:
Repetition is beneficial for learning
can provide immediate feedback

b) communicative  CALL developed in 1970s to 1980s
eg: Computer as a tutor and stimulus
Advantages: 
Programs are often cheap and available widely
Emphasises on active student performances
Greater student involvement 

c) integrated CALL
use CD-ROMs

As many years goes by, we can see the changes around us as the internet and technologies are more advanced now, we definitely witness the evolution of CALL as it become more interesting.

Entry 6 :What is Instructional Courseware Design? (ICD)

In this entry, I will talk ICD (disclaimer: Yes this is the front page of the slide) During my practical year, I always wondering if there any website or applications that actually can help students to learns. CALL? maybe will but it is just from teacher view. How about if I want to let them do it by themselves and just let the technologies helps them. ICD helps to creating a creative learning and make the acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective and appealing  In this ICD learners need to learn a need analysis syllabus,survey, free writing and need records. As for learning outcomes, learner will achieve a great experience with ICD. It also can create a learning material and the best thing is it can be put in a CALL.  It also will give an opportunity to design the courseware as it has it own storyboard and definitely can create it the way that we want. Not to worry as it can be check a few time before publish it

Hello everyone, this entry is probably a bit special entry because I did a podcast. So should I call myself a podcaster? Is it what they call them? So here is my podcast.
